The challenges and opportunities with DPP from a marketing point of view
We are DPP ready
We have adapted our platform to automatically create branded microsites and QR codes
By accessing the right information from a company’s database or databases, we can gather, sort and communicate that information in an easily-digestible way. Our solution doesn't just help you fulfil legal DPP obligations but can also support and enhance your brand.
By 2030 every product sold on the EU market will need to carry with it a digital record that contains important sustainability information about the product, such as the raw materials used and carbon footprint. According to the EU law, this information must be accessible to the end-user, via a QR-code or similar.
Known also as DPP, each passport will also show how to care for and repair the product as well as re-use and finally recycle the product. These passports are coming into law in a bid to extend the lifetime of products and to also provide transparency to consumers. It means that DPP information needs to be clearly communicated to the customer or end-user in their native language.

Implementing DPPs is not a straightforward task. It requires gathering the right data throughout the supply chain, storing that data, and then effectively communicating it to the end-user. Those who act early will position themselves as leading sustainable brands. But there a range of other commercial opportunities here. By placing a QR code linked to a microsite, every product will now have its own direct communication channel. In a recent white paper, we identified seven key opportunities for marketers when it comes to digital product passports.
Fulfilling EU requirements is one thing but to turn DPP into an opportunity, you need to make your digital product passports a brand experience. Kolla can automatically create on-brand microsites with both inspirational material, EU compliant information and more.
By integrating into your PIM, e-commerce or business management system, we can automatically take the relevant product information and place it into branded templates created in the Kolla platform. The end result is potentially thousands of unique on-brand microsites automatically updated, each with a unique QR-code, providing your audience with the right EU-compliant information but also inspiration to keep them interested after scanning and providing you with a user-friendly system to keep your DPPs up to date. In addition, the Kolla platform automatically translates content into the mobile phone user’s language settings. We also provide creatives that can create customised content and design for you.
DPPs are expected to roll out in Europe between 2026 and 2030. We are keeping an eye on the regulatory updates, so you don’t have to.
